How Many Mins Of Light Do We Gain

Nov 10, 1989

Yes, yes I know! Today is 10/11/2010

But a nice blogger reminded me of the day 21 years ago and I once went through my old records and will even show you a few lines of that time.
We have lived in the "province" in Halle an der Saale. Thanks to the Chemical industry on the outskirts of the dirtiest city in the GDR. Everything was better than Halle! Holidays to Berlin, the ultimate for me.

Thursday Aug 10, 89
The summer of 1989 was hot in every way and we went at the hottest time in Berlin.

lunch we have just arrived at the Friedrichstrasse station. We have vacation and spend it with friends in Berlin. Links from the output there is a huge crowd. What do the
here?
Incredibly, they waited in line at the border crossing!

We are not among the elect who can go from Berlin to Berlin and walk comfortably, but target is on the road at the Friedrich Friedrichstadtpalast over to the north. Already we are at the Permanent Mission of the FRG. In recent days there, 116 East Germans have fled to force their departure. As of today it is closed so.
police are hardly visible, but we're sure each step is observed. I photograph won the front door with the sign. Then, a camera team from the ZDF. Just do not be filmed. This is also dangerous.
We continue to transition toward Wall Street disability.
Here everything is quiet. No crowds.

tickles me in it. It pushes me to go to the border guards and say, "I'm Mieke, we make this holiday. Here's my card! I'll go over just see me at the colorful side of the wall and tonight I'm back here. "Why not

? More I do not want that! can

My friend just hold back. What would have happened?
arrest, secret police interrogations, jail. I have not enough courage.

We go back to Friedrichstrasse, then towards Reichstagufer. It is just about the view of the historic structure, zuzubauen risen from fire and war.
is at the Brandenburg Gate this inner fear is gone. I photograph and I wish you to go through me once.

end of August
Our vacation is over. It has shaken us awake.
Nothing will be again, as it was. All we could see what we have seen. But without D-Mark, we are just 2nd class people in their own country.
We agree it can and can not go there. Leave is for us the question. We stay here! But we do not knuckle under.

In the supermarket there is only one topic: When are you over drive? We agree: immediately and without visas. We try it out. At noon we sit on the train to Berlin. It's empty and on time. Lichtenberg, we take the S-Bahn Prenzlauer Berg, because I think the border crossing Bornholm road is good. No way! Everything totally crowded.
A loudspeaker announcement: "Please use the other transitions,"
So walk through half of Berlin West.

clock 16 will arrive in front of the already known transition Invalidenstrasse. But nothing compared to summer. Traffic jams to the Standing Committee, people over people.
While the snake is moving rapidly forward, I remember the August and still can not believe what happened here.
All around smiling, happy, excited people and overwhelmed but friendly officials.
We have reached the gate. A glance at our passports, no stamp. Sorry! How should we prove that we are here today?
To Five, we are in West Berlin. A row of clapping, "Welcome" calling Berliners, flowers or champagne in their hands, welcomes us.

I HAVE TEARS IN THE EYES AND butterflies in your stomach!

We are on the bright side of the wall. Who would have believed it?
we hoped that it could even be as if we were scolded counterrevolutionary and state enemies. On October 16 the market hall with candles in their hands and fear in the neck. Video cameras around.

THREE MONTHS AFTER MY DREAM: just go, GO BY AND COME AGAIN, I AM HERE!
AM TRANSIT ROAD DISABILITY I HAVE THE SECOND BERLIN CITY WALK AND THERE WERE TEARS IN THE EYES AND IT WAS AMAZING !!!!!!!

how it was then and read it tingles and I'm still in my thoughts again among the people and no one can really understand what happened. We all know: That's history, a historic day.

You have to remember every now and then about why it is today, as it is!

around!
